The USAID Sustainable Cultural Heritage Through Engagement of Local Communities Project, implemented by ACOR, supported and participated in a number of special events, high-level meetings, lectures, and conferences from 2014 – 2018. Such events provided opportunities to exchange knowledge, develop and present policies and guidelines, plan collaborations, and strengthen the community of practice around Jordan’s heritage. In cooperation with SCHEP under the “Discover the Mysterious Depth of Aqaba’s Marine Heritage sites” Project, the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS) organized the Marine Heritage Conference on 26 February 2018 in Aqaba. The conference was attended by 117 participants from all project stakeholder groups. JREDS shared the results of the project’s underwater archaeology survey and signed a cooperative agreement with the Department of Antiquities (DOA).
