The USAID Sustainable Cultural Heritage Through Engagement of Local Communities Project, implemented by ACOR, supported and participated in a number of special events, high-level meetings, lectures, and conferences from 2014 – 2018. Such events provided opportunities to exchange knowledge, develop and present policies and guidelines, plan collaborations, and strengthen the community of practice around Jordan’s heritage. On September 27, 2017, SCHEP organized a meeting at the headquarters of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) to discuss the opportunity of developing a joint business model connecting the communities of Wadi Araba and Wadi Musa to operate the Incense Route. The meeting was attended by chief commissioners of PDTRA, tourism association members from Wadi Musa, and community leaders from Wadi Araba.
