Title
Jordan. Amman, USAID SCHEP Media for Heritage Workshop at ACOR
Description
The USAID Sustainable Cultural Heritage Through Engagement of Local Communities Project, implemented by ACOR, supported and participated in a number of special events, high-level meetings, lectures, and conferences from 2014 – 2018. Such events provided opportunities to exchange knowledge, develop and present policies and guidelines, plan collaborations, and strengthen the community of practice around Jordan’s heritage. SCHEP and the US Embassy’s Cultural Affairs Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Heritage (AFCP) hosted a Media for Heritage workshop on April 17, 2017 at ACOR. The event was designed to open a conversation amongst media professionals in Jordan who cover cultural heritage related issues about best practices and responsible journalism. The event was an important step in providing clarity about the exact nature of American involvement in cultural heritage sites and combatting rumors about lost gold and treasures that leads to looting. DOA General Director Monther Jamhawi gave an introductory speech, ACOR Director Barbara Porter presented about ACOR projects, SCHEP COP Nizar Al Adarbeh presented about SCHEP, and U.S. Embassy Cultural Affairs Officer Tobias Bradford presented about AFCP projects.
