Jordan. Bir Madhkur, familiarization trip to Bir Madhkur
Description
From 2014 to 2018, USAID SCHEP worked to achieve sustainable growth in tourism at its nine affiliated sites in a variety of ways, including by supporting the establishment of four community-led micro to small enterprises (MSEs) that offer unique cultural and natural tourism experiences. SCHEP also worked with local organizations and institutions to introduce tour operators to lesser-known sites and produce materials that help visitors understand and appreciate them. The project also offered trainings and workshops on site promotion, offering local stakeholders knowledge and skills to help turn their local sites into national and international destinations. Finally, SCHEP organized familiarization trips for university students and others in tourism and related fields to visit the project’s affiliated sites and learn about their historical contexts and local communities.
