Description
At the American Center of Research are aware of the significance of the science that underlies the documentation and conservation efforts that help safeguard Jordan’s archaeological heritage sites. It enables us to protect these priceless historical places in ways that respect their distinctive qualities and keep them as close to their original condition as is feasible.
That is why we offered another comprehensive 32-hour conservation documentation training session, from May 21 to May 24, 2023, which gave participants the opportunity to exchange knowledge and advance their abilities.
Staff of the Department of Antiquities and the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority, along with recent graduates, were among the 13 eager participants who joined us. Their enthusiasm and commitment to protecting our archaeological riches are truly motivating.
In order to conserve our heritage for future generations, we dived deeply into the processes of documentation and conservation. Throughout the training, we looked at a variety of strategies and procedures suited to the unique requirements of various archaeological sites. This covered methods and techniques, decay phases and how to create an analysis with scientific terminology, treatment methodology, architectural interpretation, and more.
The training was supported by the USAID-funded Sustainable Cultural Heritage Through Engagement of Local Communities Project (SCHEP), implemented by ACOR.
