Description
The USAID Sustainable Cultural Heritage Through Engagement of Local Communities Project, implemented by ACOR, supported and participated in a number of special events, high-level meetings, lectures, and conferences from 2014 – 2018. SCHEP and the Umm el-Jimal Archaeological Project (UJAP) gathered on December 9, 2018 with representatives of the Umm el-Jimal Municipality and local community members, the American Center of Research (ACOR), USAID, and others to celebrate the successful completion of SCHEP’s collaboration with UJAP. The event began with a tour of the site itself to highlight the improvements that have been made through the partnership. Afterward, remarks were made by Ralph Koehring, Acting Mission Director at USAID Jordan, Yazid Elayan, Acting Director General of the Department of Antiquities, Hassan Rheibeh, Mayor of Umm el-Jimal Municipality, Dr. Barbara Porter, ACOR Director, Dr. Bert de Vries, Umm el-Jimal Project Director, and others.
