Description
Capacity building is an important part of the USAID SCHEP model for promoting the sustainable management of Jordan’s cultural heritage. From 2014 – 2018, SCHEP implemented training programs and workshops in skills related to cultural heritage conservation, management, interpretation, and presentation, for over 300 heritage professionals, recent graduates, local community members, and others. As part of SCHEP’s capacity building efforts, five students from the American University of Madaba’s Department of Architecture enrolled in a credited internship module for three months with the Madaba Regional Archaeological Museum Project (MRAMP). The interns received coaching and support from SCHEP and MRAMP experts, increased their awareness of cultural heritage, and gained valuable experience working with international projects. At the end of their internship, the students gave an illustrated presentation of their work for local stakeholders.
