Description
Capacity building is an important part of the USAID SCHEP model for promoting the sustainable management of Jordan’s cultural heritage. From 2014 – 2018, SCHEP implemented training programs and workshops in skills related to cultural heritage conservation, management, interpretation, and presentation, for over 300 heritage professionals, recent graduates, local community members, and others. In partnership with the Umm el-Jimal Archaeological Project (UJAP), SCHEP organized a workshop to develop a Site Management Plan for the Umm al Jimal archaeological site in November 2017. This workshop was attended by representatives of the Department of Antiquities, Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Umm al Jimal community, the Umm al Jimal Municipality, UJAP, ACOR USAID SCHEP, UNESCO, and the Umm es-Surab Project.
