Description
Between 2014 and 2018, USAID SCHEP’s awareness program sought to bring together communities and strengthen bonds, while also educating children, youth, adults, and families about their local cultural heritage and the importance of preserving it. To this end, SCHEP implemented educational workshops, field trips, and events, with an emphasis on hands-on learning and direct participation. Under the theme of “Sustainable Tourism – a Tool for Development,” SCHEP celebrated World Tourism Day 2017 with awareness activities targeting local communities and schools in southern Jordan. The project collaborated with several partners to bring 70 students from public schools in the south, 18 children from SOS village, to Wadi Rum to enjoy camel rides, Jeep tours, and discover the rock art sites with SCHEP Sites Stewards.
