Description
Between 2014 and 2018, USAID SCHEP’s awareness program sought to bring together communities and strengthen bonds, while also educating children, youth, adults, and families about their local cultural heritage and the importance of preserving it. To this end, SCHEP implemented educational workshops, field trips, and events, with an emphasis on hands-on learning and direct participation. In cooperation with the DOA, SCHEP celebrated International Museum Day 2017 by hosting educational activities for local schools at all SCHEP nine project sites. In total, 450 fourth- to ninth-grade girls, hailing from nine schools across Jordan, participated, taking part in interactive activities that corresponded to the site they visited, such as creating Nabatean-style drawings, mosaic making, pottery restoration, or learning to read and write in Nabataean and Thamudic alphabets.
