In partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MoTA), the Department of Antiquities (DoA), the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), and the Royal Department for Environment Protection and Tourism, ACOR has been working since March 2021 to develop a new tourist path linking the archaeological site of the Citadel’s southern gate with the Roman theater in downtown Amman.
Funded by USAID and undertaken through SCHEP, the project is rehabilitating the ancient staircase that connected the upper city to the lower city in the Roman period, uniting ancient and modern Amman.The project intends to turn the site into a tourist attraction and enhance commercial activity by providing new investment opportunities.
