Description
In 2019, the Neolithic archaeological site of Ain Ghazal was threatened with destruction due to the construction. Responding to a proposal from the Department of Antiquities, ACOR USAID SCHEP provided financial and technical support to the DOA to complete rescue excavations at the site, beginning in October 2019 and ending in early December. These excavations were accompanied by an applied, hands-on capacity building program and a series of workshops about the particulars of the site, best practices for conducting rescue excavations, and other related topics.
